Artificial Intelligence That Detects Emotions

AffdexMe is an artificial intelligence tool for Mac that detects your emotions by analyzing your facial expressions. It uses your Mac’s built-in camera to analyze expressions real-time.

Using the App

To use the app, launch the software on your Mac. Once done, you would see your face showing up on the screen accompanied by metrics that would be measuring your emotions and expressions. Once done with the assessment, it would come up with an emoji that sticks to your face the best. If you’d like to take a picture with the emoji on, use the camera icon in the lower right.You could use the app in its default settings, or change preferences. For instance, the processing rate could be altered. Also, facial points could be displayed when the face is being tracked. Glasses avatars, emoji avatars, and gender could be displayed too.

Supported Emotions

AffdexMe works with primarily six emotions: anger, contempt, fear, disgust, sadness and joy. The tool supports horizontal mirroring and small-face mode. The clean design, the gender detection feature, and the improved depiction of emoticons depending on the emotion makes the tool fairly unique. The emotional AI is in its nascent stage, and AffdexMe is doing quite well with the limited technology available. At the moment, AffdexMe may not be absolutely accurate with the emotions it detects. However, with time, it would certainly be able to analyze expressions and emotions better.
